ATOME shares surge on $465m EPC Contract signed with Casale
Atome has signed a definitive $465 million EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract with Swiss engineering company Casale for its 145MW green hydrogen-based fertiliser project in Paraguay. The agreement comes ahead of a final investment decision by Atome, expected by mid-2025.
Under the fixed-price, lump-sum contract, Casale will build the facility in Villeta. Once fully operational, the plant will produce 260,000 tonnes of green calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) annually.
The fertiliser will be made using green hydrogen—produced through electrolysis powered by hydropower—as a key feedstock for the nitrogen component.
Construction is expected to take approximately 38 months from that point to first production.
